Idle Words
There is no doubt upon the reunion of my husband and myself seven years ago, that he was, by far, a more mature Believer than I. Like so many "new" couples (we have been together for 15 years, but were separated during that time for a period of five (??) years, we have known each other for at least 20) there were issues that plagued the relationship. One of them was my tendency to speak "frivolously". Statements that I would toss out carelessly from my mouth, bothered him immensely. "I'm dying for a piece of chocolate!" "We/they are so lucky!" " I swear I saw...." He would warn me to be careful of what I say as it indicates the condition of my heart. He had shared several scriptures with me. I remember thinking, that it was just a "figure of speech" pretty harmless, right? Never mind the fact that I would say two completely different things that would "contradict" each other.
