Idle Words

There is no doubt upon the reunion of my husband and myself seven years ago, that he was, by far, a more mature Believer than I. Like so many "new" couples (we have been together for 15 years, but were separated during that time for a period of five (??) years, we have known each other for at least 20) there were issues that plagued the relationship. One of them was my tendency to speak "frivolously". Statements that I would toss out carelessly from my mouth, bothered him immensely. "I'm dying for a piece of chocolate!" "We/they are so lucky!" " I swear I saw...." He would warn me to be careful of what I say as it indicates the condition of my heart. He had shared several scriptures with me. I remember thinking, that it was just a "figure of speech" pretty harmless, right? Never mind the fact that I would say two completely different things that would "contradict" each other. Or I would say one thing, but do anot...

Church - A Stumbling Block to Faith?

In my post, Confessions of a Former Worldwide Church of God Member , I made a statement that I wish to expound further on: "Quite honestly, I say this knowing full well some of you, if not most will be offended by this statement, I find church attendance can be a hindrance to a believer's walk in faith" Before moving on let's clarify what exactly a "Stumbling Block" is. "an obstacle or hindrance to progress, belief, or understanding" "An obstacle or impediment" "a difficulty that prevents progress" Source: American Psychological Association (APA): Stumbling Block. The Law of Sin and Death

A relative and I were having a fascinating discussion about sin. He made a statement that rang very true to me. "So many Christians are obsessed with sin". For a long while, since reading other posts and forums about sin, I've been dwelling upon and studying about that matter. Although I've been compelled to analyze the subject by post, I haven't felt prepared to do so. As you all know, I'm experiencing a trial that proves to be a continuous battle for my faith. It has been a trial which continues to manifest the truth of Scripture, the Word of God, to my soul. It is during hard times such as these when the Glory of God is a sight to behold. And His goodness, a pleasant taste! "O taste and see that the LORD is good..." Psalm 34:8 Why do we obsess with sin? Either of our own or those of fellow Christians? Has Christ not set us free from the law of sin and death? "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of ...

Parable of the Sower Addendum

Here's the link to the original post " The Parable of the Sower " "Does it mean that those who are not yet deeply rooted in Christ, who are still babes in Christ, are not going to heaven until they become more firmly grounded in Him?" "But what about those who die when they are still babe's and have not yet become firmly rooted? What is your definition of firmly rooted? " PROFESSION Profession: The act of professing; avowal; a declaration, whether true or false. http://www.dictionary.com/ The Parable of the Sower defines four types of people who have heard the Word of God (seed). Three of them are "hearers", producing no "fruit" as a result. One is a "doer", producing "fruit" as a result. The fact that those who profess belief in Christ is categorized along with the unbeliever says a LOT in that fact alone. (The category of being unfruitful.) While their profession may be genuine in and of itself, it does no...

Statement of Faith & Disclaimer

Image
MY AFFILIATION I am but a sinner washed in the precious blood of the Lamb, led of the Spirit to share my testimony of my walk in Him. I am not affiliated with any denomination, doctrine or organized church association. I am a part of the spiritual body of Christ, in this light, I am a member of HIS CHURCH, as the heavenly Father desires those to worship Him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24 In the midst of various churches and teachings, my commitment is to Christ and Him alone. STATEMENT OF FAITH I believe that it is every believer's responsibility to test the spirits as explained in 1 John 4:1-6. With that in mind, here's what I believe: Jesus is The Christ, the Son of God, born of a virgin, crucified, rose from the dead and is seated as King in heaven. Who will, in the fullness of time, will return to receive us unto Him. John 14:1-4 His sacrifice served as atonement for our sins. Belief/trust/faith in Him translates into forgiveness and reconciliation with God ...
