The Golden Calf

I'm afraid a dangerous practice that has long been in place has taken a hold and has had a dramatic effect on those who profess/confess Christ Jesus and Him, crucified. The practice of reading, studying and interpreting the Word of the Holy God out of it's original context has implemented the start of many denominations, false doctrines, teachings, followings and teachers. But those who do subscribe to sound doctrine and who proclaim the Word of God inerrant and consistent, also fall prey to this practice. Add to the fact that we live in a time where there are translations galore. Translations of every sort that promise "easy" Bible readings, catering to the understanding of the student as opposed to the student catering to the understanding of the Word. Proverbs 2:1-5 This practice has been devastating. It has devastated the integrity, the wholesomeness of the Word as we use stand alone scriptures to "rebuke" ,"reprove" and support a theology...

Myths of Today’s Christian Culture – Sin

Truly, it is irresponsible for anyone who confesses belief in Jesus Christ of Nazareth and the power of His blood which give us remission of sin to ignore the extremely divided state in which today’s Christian culture resides. As it stands today, many denominations with preferred teachings preach and confuse a gospel that is not recognizable have rendered it un-relatable to those who have yet to receive Christ as the Son of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. While there are a vast conglomerate of churches of all varieties, they all have one thing in common, legalism. Legalism is the act/belief that physical behaviors lead to salvation and/or righteousness. Some examples may be; church attendance as as condition for salvation. Tithing, fasting, keeping of certain days, be it the Sabbath or other days, as a condition of salvation.  Some of you may know, I was a member of the World Wide Church of God (WCG). We believed we were the true church of God and kept Jewish holidays (Days...

The Days of Noe

What is normal? Many times over the course of this life I have heard this term. Most recently I've heard this term describing a type of "day", in other words, normal days. The dictionary definition of normal stands as this: 1. conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular; natural. 2. serving to establish a standard Dictionary.com Who decides what's normal? Who establishes the standard or the common type? "Normal" for a person can be defined by how they were raised. Habits, choices and lifestyles are dictated by what one views or believe as "normal". What is clear to me in this day, age and time of Christianity is a declaration of "normality" is given over to the experts of our time. Be it pastors, doctors, teachers etc. Generally, they tell us what is "normal" and by their measuring stick we judge where normalcy comes in. The problem with what we may consider normal is that it may not actually be ...

The Law of Sin and Death

A relative and I were having a fascinating discussion about sin. He made a statement that rang very true to me. "So many Christians are obsessed with sin". For a long while, since reading other posts and forums about sin, I've been dwelling upon and studying about that matter. Although I've been compelled to analyze the subject by post, I haven't felt prepared to do so. As you all know, I'm experiencing a trial that proves to be a continuous battle for my faith. It has been a trial which continues to manifest the truth of Scripture, the Word of God, to my soul. It is during hard times such as these when the Glory of God is a sight to behold. And His goodness, a pleasant taste! "O taste and see that the LORD is good..." Psalm 34:8 Why do we obsess with sin? Either of our own or those of fellow Christians? Has Christ not set us free from the law of sin and death? "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of ...

Shackled Liberty

I have a bone to pick! I must admit I am irked! Now, I pray that my spirit is led in a way that I can communicate clearly without letting my sentiments dictate my writing in truth and of scripture. Why is my liberty in Christ Jesus is always attacked by those who profess themselves Christian or Believers? They pick on inconsequential issues, and declare my deliberate choices of faithful living/dependency upon the Lord, unwise; at worse, unbiblical. I am compelled to defend the truth against dangerous ignorance, and the liberty of the gospel commanded by Christ, our Savior. CHRIST, OUR CONDEMNER? What is amazing to me is that Christ himself, has never condemned a sinner for being a sinner! "So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning a...
