"Go, and Sin No More"

The following "post" is a response to a comment left on my original post of "Pro-Choice". I decided to publish the comment because it gave me an opportunity to expound further on the point of my original post. You can find the original comment at this post as well.

-------------Start of Comment------------

Once again I thank you for commenting. Normally I wouldn’t publish a comment that may start a “debate” however, I decided to respond to your comment because I wanted to expound on my point of the existence of choice.

It can very easy to get away from the “big picture” when the “pieces” of the big picture are taken out of context. It is in this light, many fall into the trap of “straining at a gnat and swallow a camel” instead Matthew 23:24

In stating that, my point in my post is a simple one. It is not about politics, morals or even a political candidate; it’s about the existence of choice as allowed by God and the consequences of it by we which we DO (physically) live in a condemned/forsaken earth. Let’s not forget the story of how it all began, which resulted in the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the remissions of sins, by which we, as Believers are commissioned, not to offer hope, but to proclaim it.

If we put all the pieces together; the pieces being:

  1. The existence of free will or choice
  2. The consequences (good and bad) of choice.
  3. The fall of man
  4. Satan as prince of the earth
  5. The Sacrifice of Christ

And then add those pieces with its consequence:

  1. The decision to rebel against God resulted in the fall of man.
  2. The fall of man resulted in a condemned earth where Satan was allowed to free access to.
  3. The whole process implemented the Salvation of man in which Christ is our atonement for sin.

As Believers by Faith in Christ Jesus, we are commissioned to proclaim the hope of the Gospel… the Salvation of man, by the blood of Christ. We are to proclaim eternal life, resurrection of the dead, because Christ overcame death. We are to proclaim the promises of God and the promise of the removal of sin, by Faith in Jesus. All the while LOOKING to the heavens for our Savior, yearning for the day and time when we will be with Him always.

"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him." -- 2 Corinthians 5:1-9

We yearn because we live on earth as foreigners while Satan is throned as prince; we know that this earth is temporal…or do we?

Too many Christians who profess Him live as citizens on this earth. Instead they are looking to the earth, looking to the promises of a political candidate and all he/she stands for. Meanwhile, we are not proclaiming the awesome message of the Gospel, the remission of sin by Faith, the hope of eternal life, the Savior’s victory over death. Instead we focus on “moral” behavior. We focus on our faith and trust in a political candidate in hopes that they would somehow “improve” this condemned earth/nation. All the while forgetting that all things are temporal, all things will come to its end. It is in enlighten state of mind; I share this scripture (which I am NOT the author of):

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable” 1 Corinthians 15:19

It is not our job to “consider” the moral behavior of others. It is certainly not our responsibility to legislate morality upon others. It is our job as Believers to proclaim, not offer, the hope of the Gospel leaving ALL consequences to Him. Christ Jesus in all His majesty never condemned a sinner for being a sinner.

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.” -- John 8:7-11

He didn’t come to condemn the world (people), but that the world might be saved through Him. John 3:17

BUT…

He had the harshest words for the Pharisees who not only were hypocrites, but who loved and embraced their lifestyle and did all they could to preserve it.

-------End of Comment------

We need to tell all that Jesus said,

"Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more".

  1. The freedom to choose

These are the words I have been trying to say for years (about having the freedom to choose). It has been in my heart for the longest time .Every time I heard or saw something concerning abortion or the right of choice , I would think "well God always gave us the freedom to choose and with every choice there is reward or consequence. I have never expressed my thoughts on this matter because I could not put it in words ,but in my spirit it made perfect since. I thank God that you put it into words .

    Grace and Peace
    Thanks Connie

  2. Connie,

    Thanks for stopping by :)
I'm glad I could "speak" for you. Like yourself, this subject has been in the uppermost part of my thoughts and something I couldn't express outside of the Spirit.

We as, Believers are called to "deny" ourselves and follow Christ...not live a mere moral existence and insist others do the same.

This is the absolute beauty of grace and the tremendous hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ...to "come as you are", because we, as we very well know, are incapable to change what comes natural to us, human nature and the sin that follows after it...faithlessness. When we submit to His call of faith, following Him, we are given the Holy Spirit which we hereby, experience the fruits of.

What an awesome message to proclaim! Its unfortunate so many go the opposite direction of self-righteousness instead.

    God bless you Connie!

  3. Jesus said Take up your cross and follow him so you must be willing to die to your old self to follow Jesus. This is a call to absolute surrender. Because Jesus said whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.

  4. Astin,

Amen. I wrote a post, not too long ago, titled "Christ Follower" about the cross, what it means and our call to bear it. You may want to check it out... it echos your sentiment. Thanks for visiting my blog!

    God Bless!
