45 Years ago, He Had A Dream

As an African American, I cannot express the contentment and interal joy I have watching an historical phenomenon come to pass, as a child I have always been inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. As an adult, I can appreciate, the profound wisdom, talent and insight, of this man and his vision for the future. 45 years ago, he spoke of a dream that seemed so far fetched and unattainable of his time. Truly it wasn't a dream...it was hope. This man inspired thousands with this hope. As I watch Barack Obama conjure 1st time voters out of the woodwork, its more than a dream fulfilled...it is hope renewed. This is attraction of Obama. The same magnetic pull Martin Luther King possessed...hope. I'm watching people dancing and chanting as they await Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention. I realize something vital...ALL people NEED hope. They WANT hope. No matter how dire a prospect or situation looks hope, is always there. In this light, Modern day Christians, who SHOUL

Gospel 101

There is a sentiment among Christians that I must confess disturbs me to my core. I have heard this sentiment several times around forms and comments that I am compelled to speak about here. It is the idea, that unbelievers must "change or give up their lifestyle" to be saved. "They don't want to give up their lifestyle" Does this statement sound familiar to you? Maybe you have stated it yourself. I have heard statements of this sentiment repeatedly. It has never sat well with me. This sentiment not only conveys an attitude of arrogance towards the unbelieving society, but shows a profound lack of understanding of what exactly the Gospel entails. Gospel 101 Today's Christian society is so upside down and inside out with pseudo doctrines and sayings that the Gospel has become something un-relatable to the unbelieving society.  Because it is un-relatable, it never been easier to brush aside the message of grace as it presented, distorted and full

Where Have I Been?

The past two weeks I have been "given to hospitality". My uncle has been staying with us from California. He has been such a blessing and a wonderful houseguest to have. It was sad to see him go! That's what I have been up to the past two weeks :) I am working on my next post and should be up within a day or two. Please feel free to check out the archives for older posts, as well my FAQ sidebar. As school starts next week, I suspect my posts will be less frequent until I can get into a school groove but, goal is to prevent that from happening, so I'll be doing my very best to set time aside for posting. My firstborn starts as a freshman in high school and my oldest son (3 0f 6) begins Kindergarten. It will prove to be a busy week! I would like to give a "shout out" to my baby girl Roxannah (2 0f 6) who turned 7 on August 15th. And to my baby boy Ezekiel (4 0f 6) who turned 4 August 20th. Happy Birthday babies! I love you so much!!!

A Thought to Share

I was visiting a brother-in-Christ's site and commented on a post he had on Obama. I wanted to share my thoughts here on this post. In light of the general Christian perspective on Obama, and the election of our next presidential candidate, here are my thoughts on the matter. If we believe in a risen Messiah who has saved us unto eternal salvation, then we know all is temporal. If we believe that our Christ will return on high, then we live as foreigners on earth. Knowing this, we are alive and well during the end times, we know what the eventual end of America will be. No one elected will form America into moral correctness or purity. It is a fantasy and one not in alignment with the Gospel. We have suffered through 8 years under George W. Bush "rule". We all know what group elected him into office, America has not gotten any better morally... proving without a doubt the manifestation of the Word, "That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the po

The Lies We Tell

When I was a babe in Christ, fumbling my way around the Word, there was a major issue I need to confront...the lies I told myself. When confronted with Faith, or my lack thereof, I would deny, in the face of evidence, the weakness of my budding Faith. To the detriment of spiritual growth, I would excuse my impromptu speech and/or action, that conveyed the very essence of doubt, the true source of the evil that exists in the world. Hebrews 3:12 If we should not bear false witness against another, as an express command of the Lord ( Exodus 20:16 ), how much worse is our false witness to ourselves, when the Holy God considers ALL without excuse? "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood
